Description
We are looking for a Financial Controller to join our Finance team in an international startup environment. The role combines hands-on execution with structured financial analysis and will support the business through controlling, reporting, budgeting/forecasting, variance analysis, and continuous improvements in how financial information is structured and presented. The position reports to the Finance Manager and works closely with key stakeholders across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Budgeting & forecasting support:
- Support the annual budget process and periodic forecast updates.
Month-end close support & coordination:
- Support month-end activities by validating data, allocations (cost centers/projects), and consistency across reporting outputs.
- Coordinate inputs and ensure outsourced accounting outputs are coherent and aligned with internal reporting needs, timelines, and standards.
Monthly controlling & management reporting:
- Prepare periodic management reporting (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow (indirect method), KPIs, cost tracking), ensuring accuracy and consistency and provide relevant financial information and reporting outputs to stakeholders as needed.
Variance analysis & insights
- Analyze deviations vs budget/forecast/prior periods, identify drivers, and translate movements into business-oriented commentary.
- Build ad-hoc analyses to support decision-making.
Cash awareness:
- Provide cash-related decision support by producing ad hoc cash updates and targeted reporting when required.
Accounting review & documentation discipline:
- Review accounting outputs to ensure completeness, accuracy, and correct classification.
Audit, due diligence & ad-hoc requests:
- Participate in external audits and due diligence by preparing supporting documentation, schedules, and reconciliations; ensure information is structured and quickly retrievable.
Process improvement:
- Improve reporting models and workflows: structure, version control, documentation, and automation where possible while maintaining auditability.
Minimum requirements
- 2-3 years of experience in controlling, FP&A, audit, financial analysis
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Financial Excel skills with an emphasis on logic and robustness: ability to build and maintain structured models that produce reliable outputs (i.e., “thinking in Excel” and translating business questions into workable models).
- Comfortable with core formulas and tools (e.g., logical formulas, basic math/statistics, lookups, pivot tables, data cleaning).
- Strong analytical mindset, high attention to detail, and ability to explain financial movements clearly.
- Organized and structured approach to work; strong ownership of deadlines and deliverables.
- Full professional proficiency in English and Spanish (written and spoken)
Nice to have:
- Master’s degree in Finance or similar.
- Big Four (or similar) audit background.
- Exposure to accounting tools/ERP and reporting tools (e.g., Odoo, Sage, SAP, Power BI, etc.).
What you can expect
- High exposure to business performance and decision-making.
- A role with clear learning and growth opportunities across controlling and financial analysis.
- The chance to build strong finance foundations (reporting, models, processes) in a fast-moving international startup.
