Quantum Setup Integration Engineer

Description

Mission

Lead the end-to-end integration and deployment of advanced quantum systems, ensuring robust, scalable, and reliable operation from lab prototype to on-site installation.

You will bridge physics, engineering, and infrastructure, owning the full system integration lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

🔹 System Integration & Deployment

  • Lead the integration of complex quantum hardware systems (cryogenic platforms, control electronics, RF/DC infrastructure, racks).
  • Own system bring-up, validation, and performance verification.
  • Develop structured debugging workflows across electrical, RF, thermal, and mechanical domains.
  • Support and coordinate on-site deployments, including international travel when required.
🔹 System Design & Validation
  • Contribute to system-level architecture decisions focused on scalability and maintainability.
  • Support design and validation of cryogenic components, filtering chains, shielding, and interconnects.
  • Perform simulations and analytical studies (thermal, electromagnetic, signal integrity) when needed.
  • Define system requirements and acceptance criteria.

🔹 Infrastructure & Site Planning

  • Conduct site readiness studies (power, cooling, space, safety, network).
  • Develop system documentation: rack layouts, system diagrams, BOMs, integration plans.
  • Participate in cost estimation and deployment planning.

🔹 Documentation & Operational Excellence

  • Create structured integration procedures, debugging guides, and operational playbooks.
  • Standardize processes to improve repeatability and scalability.
  • Contribute to automation of testing and reporting workflows.

🔹 Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Act as the interface between physics, engineering, suppliers, and customers.
  • Participate in design reviews with a system-integration perspective.
  • Mentor junior engineers and technicians.

Minimum requirements

Required

  • MSc or PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field.
  • Hands-on experience with complex laboratory systems (cryogenics, RF systems, superconducting devices, or similar high-tech platforms).
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving mindset across multiple domains.
  • Experience with measurement instrumentation (e.g., VNA, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes).
  • Programming skills in Python or similar for automation and data analysis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Nice to have

  • Experience with quantum hardware or superconducting circuits.
  • Background in multi-disciplinary system integration (electronics + thermal + mechanical).
  • Experience deploying hardware outside the lab environment.
  • Familiarity with simulation tools (COMSOL, HFSS, LTSpice, or similar).
  • Experience working in fast-paced startup or deep-tech environments.

PhD is not required. Early-career candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.

Why This Role Is Unique

  • Full system ownership: from integration to deployment.
  • Exposure to cutting-edge quantum hardware.
  • Direct impact on scalable quantum computing infrastructure.
