Senior QML Engineer

Description

The person in this role will pilot the Quantum Machine Learning (QML) line of research at Qilimanjaro. This involves leading Qilimanjaro’s projects aimed at exploring the synergies between both fields. Additionally, the individual in this position will provide support to the algorithms and hardware teams when required.

The ideal candidate will be a person who likes teaching and learning, and thrives in a rapidly developing environment, in collaboration with a highly technical and multidisciplinary team, composed of experts in fields like Tensor Networks, Many-body quantum systems, Superconducting Circuits and Gate-Based and Annealing algorithms.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Drive the QML activities within Qilimanjaro, in collaboration with the rest of theory and hardware leads, focusing on two main areas:

- Applying AI techniques to improve quantum Hardware capabilities.

- Developing new AI algorithms empowered by quantum phenomena.

  • Be a guidance to the junior members of the team and help them grow and be empowered. This includes the supervision of Master and PhD thesis.
  • Participate in planning and integrating the QML roadmap to the company-wide strategy.
  • Share tasks and responsibilities and support the general work of Qilimanjaro’s technical team.

Minimum requirements

  • PhD in physics, AI or a related field.
  • Good command of English language (oral and written), including good reporting skills.
  • Good planning and management skills.
  • Team-working, constructive attitude

Any of the following skill will be highly valued:

  • Experience developing and deep theoretical understanding of: Diffusion models, Reinforcement Learning algorithms, Transformers, Graph Neural Networks and Few-shot learning techniques.
  • Previous leadership role/experience.
  • Previous academic supervision experience.
