Site Reliability Engineer

Qilimanjaro is looking for a Site Reliability Engineer to lead our Platform Squad - a small, high-impact team responsible for the infrastructure that powers our quantum computing stack.

As a Site Reliability Engineer, you will own and drive the vision, roadmap, and execution for our internal platform capabilities. Your mission is to manage and maintain the on-premise and cloud infrastructure, following the DevOps methodology by enabling scalability, reliability, and productivity through the development of internal tooling, APIs, infrastructure components, and shared services.

The Platform Squad is a team of 2 devops engineers, managing:

• On-premise servers (located in our server room and quantum lab)
• AWS Cloud infrastructure (EC2, RDS, Lambda...)
• Internal services (like Slurm and Grafana)
• QaaS APIs (written in Python)

We operate following the DevOps mindset and follow 2-week sprints across multiple cross-functional squads.

As Site Reliability Engineer, you’ll collaborate closely with most of the squads and teams, ensuring our internal systems are robust, scalable, and aligned with business needs.

This role will report to the Director of Software, and will be aligned with the Head of Operations.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure platform reliability
• Collaborate with engineers to deliver improvements in our infrastructure and developer experience
• Execute technical tasks alongside the team, and do regular code reviews
• Contribute to strategic decisions about on-premise and cloud systems, and on internal tooling
• Work cross-functionally with other teams (Tech, Business and Operations)
• Participate on the future OnCall process

• 3+ years of experience managing on-premise infrastructure
• 2+ years of experience managing AWS infrastructure
• Experience with networking, storage, monitoring, databases and system administration tools
• Experience with services like GitHub Actions, Slurm, Ansible, and Grafana
• Excellent communication skills in English
• Proactivity and strong problem-solving skills

Nice to have:

• Experience as a Product Owner, managing a development backlog
• Python development experience (Flask, Django)
• Experience in an OnCall team
• Familiarity with Kubernetes, containerization and virtualization
• Experience managing third-party service providers
• Experience with Cybersecurity or IT management
• Background or interest in Physics / Quantum Computing

Work conditions:

• Location: Offices and Lab in Carrer Veneçuela, 74, 08019, Barcelona, Spain.
• On-site and hybrid work. Monday to Friday.
